The classical European style has always been a much sought-after aesthetic benchmark in home design. However, striking the right balance between modern sensibilities and traditional ambience and creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere has been a constant challenge for designers. This project features a dwelling located at One Beacon Hill in Kowloon Tong, a 1,140-square-foot home that has accompanied a family of four through many years of cosy moments. The owners hoped to rejuvenate the home's appearance through renovation, infusing their most beloved interior style. After careful consideration with the clients, we opted for a light-toned European style, complemented by a minimalist design approach, to cultivate a soothing living space.

After the renovation, the living and dining area predominantly features white and wood elements as the main colour scheme, with the appropriate addition of neutral shades of grey and blue to balance the temperature of the space. We also incorporated European-style decorative mouldings on the wall behind the sofa, which became a focal point of the overall design. As for the European style, the touch of metal accents is essential, and the simple yet elegant metal pendant light suspended above the dining area lends a sense of refined luxury to the entire space, further accentuating the delicate quality of the Continental aesthetic.

In response to the owners' storage needs, we incorporated wall cabinets in the entryway. The use of white colour and rounded edges helped reduce the sense of enclosure, and a small bench was added for the convenience of changing shoes upon entering. This storage cabinet extends into the living room, creating a cohesive visual effect. Additionally, shelves with lighting were incorporated, infusing a touch of modernity into the space. The overall design skillfully balances Continental and modern elements, avoiding a monotonous and dull appearance, and reflects the owners' aspiration for a comfortable and high-quality lifestyle.

In the master suite, our designer has cleverly blended elements of European elegance and modern minimalism. Catering to the owners' desire for a hotel-like living experience, the three-sided floor-to-ceiling bed design creates a spacious and comfortable ambience. At the foot of the bed, a full-length storage cabinet was added to satisfy the female owner's storage needs. Additionally, we opted for a fabric headboard paired with a delicate, luxurious pendant light, imbuing the master bedroom with a sense of refined quality. The design not only reflects the homeowners' pursuit of a high-quality lifestyle but also showcases the designers' meticulous attention to detail.

As for the other bedrooms, they were carefully planned and designed to cater to the personal tastes and daily needs of the owners' children, providing them with a warm and pleasant living environment. Compared to the master suite, the other bedrooms are relatively less luxurious in their design approach. However, we incorporated European-style decorative moulding elements in the wardrobe design, as well as modern recessed lighting effects, which became the focal points of the spaces. Similarly, fabric headboards were utilized, and all the furniture was strategically placed along the edges and top areas to maximize the utilization of every available space.
